Throughout June, we’re experimenting with a new format to involve citizens in policy making. We’re collaborating with the town of Schilde (near Antwerp, Belgium). For this experiment, our research team created a ‘participation pavilion’. This physical installation is designed to be placed in public spaces of a city or municipality for a set amount of time. The goal of the installation is to collect opinions, ideas, needs and wishes of the citizens. All interaction is audio-based using natural speech, which gets digitally processed afterwards.

Thursday 20th of January, our co-creation project for the city of Aalst won the Henry Van De Velde award in the category Design research. During the past 2 years, we’ve worked together with habitants, caretakers, entrepreneurs and employees of the city of Aalst and co-created short-term ideas and long-term visions to position Aalst as the beacon of customer-centric care.

Last month, our research team had the opportunity to host a workshop at the Thingscon conference in Amsterdam. During the workshop, we introduced participants to an ‘IoT Ideation Tool’ mashup, which consisted of Studio Dott’s IoT Ideation Cards and Futurice’s IoT Service Kit.
